In collaboration with Forkers Ltd, JOS Structured delivered the reinforced concrete works for the new reinforced concrete water tank at Bournheath near Bromsgrove in Worcestershire.
The reinforced concrete tank was delivered to the agreed programme and to a fixed price. The tank featured 2 main chambers separated by an 8m high internal wall, with an added distribution chamber. The tank was constructed to the highest quality using a controlled permiability formwork liner and ‘XYPEX’ concrete products ensuring the surface hardness and 120 year design life.
The structure was costructed in a sequence starting at the lowest point in the valve house, through the main tank base slab, walls, internal columns and soffit formwork for the roof slab. The early delivery of the valve house constructed with a wall left out allowed Forkers to install the pipework more easily and earlier prior to closing the chamber. This allowed earlier testing and handover of the structure to ultimate client Severn Trent Water.
