We are looking for someone who has worked within the Civil Engineering Contracting sector who has ideally worked as a Senior Engineer and is looking for the opportunity to progress or change in environment. We can offer you a fresh challenge in growing company.
You will mainly be centrally based in our Birmingham Office (Tyseley) or one of our sites normally within the Midlands. You may be based on larger sites a couple of days a week with visiting roles on smaller sites.
We want you to support the JOS management team in delivering multiple reinforced concrete structures across the Midlands. You will be responsible for smaller sites with help from the JOS Management team and assist the existing teams in place at larger sites. There will be an opportunity to progress, taking on more responsibility for some of the roles of the Management team as you gain experience. As the company grows, there will be opportunity to grow into a management role.
We will provide training for any areas which require improvement and can offer an in house ICE Mentor to support those wishing to progress to Chartered / Incorporated / Technician status with the ICE.
You will initially provide Engineering support to our teams assisting in some of the following:
- Interpretation of drawings,
- Ordering of materials,
- Ordering and specifying suitable plant - cranes / concrete pumps / small tools,
- Temporary works design specification and co-ordination,
- Producing safe systems of work and quality documentation,
- Attending site progress meetings with Clients,
- Reporting on progress and planning works with site teams,
Must have:
- Degree / HNC qualified - Civil Engineering related.
- 3 years + in Civil Engineering Contracting - with exposure to reinforced concrete and structures.
- CSCS card.
- Ability to make considered decisions relatively quickly, taking responsibility and asking for help when unsure.
- Understanding of reinforced concrete structures including bridges.
- Understanding of programmes.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation and codes of practice and ability to transfer them into methodologies and relevant paperwork.
- Understanding of quality requirements for reinforced structures and ability to translate that into the relevant paperwork.
- Ability to communicate well with others at different levels from trades people to Client's Project Managers.
